Clanen
Meet the band
In case you didn't already know the name Clanen was formed around the first letters of our surnames and the
"C" used to stand for Jonathan Combe (who took the role as our drummer).
Jonathan now lives in the south of England and understandably can't make it
to every gig. Because of this our newest member is Callum Sutherland our new drummer. Clanen no longer has each letter from our surnames, but it does still start with a "C" if you use the "C" from Callum!

Callum Sutherland: Drums
Bio: Callum has just left the RSAMD in Glasgow after 2 terms in a swift
career change to geography. He is still however a keen musician playing
both trombone and drumkit. Recently, he shaved his head.
Occupation: Student/ Stockroom worker at Hawick Cashmere (Need the pennies)
Hobbies: Music in all it's most well known formats; trying to be energetic;
trying to read (that is trying to find time. I can actually read.)
On Your iPod: Currently own no ipod but if I did: Red Hot Chili Peppers,
Arctic Monkeys, The Smiths, Catriona MacDonlad, Dave Milligan Trio,
Radiohead, The Beatles, The Black Keys, The Libertines, Marvin Gaye, Ray
Charles, Stevie Wonder, Parliament.
Favourites
- Song: Otherside, Red Hot Chili Peppers
- Band: Red Hot Chili Peppers
- Form of Relaxation: Lying down with the windows open in the presence of good music and whiskey.
- Food or Drink: Zebra with bbq sauce and a Tusker.
- Film: Usually the last thing I saw unless it was Babel. That was rubbish.
- Book: The Stornoway Way. It's awesome.
- Musical: Not a massive musical goer. However, the music for High Society is pretty crackin.
Likes: Discovering new music, trying to be creative, funk, chatteryness
(sometimes a little over much) and various liquors.
Dislikes: Wasting a day (though it happens all too often), nagging, the fact
that sometimes Girls Aloud are described as "artists".
Bio: Ruth has recently graduated from Edinburgh University with a MA in History and Scottish Historical Studies. She is working at the National Library of Scotland for the next year before hopefully doing a course in archives. Ruth played in various groups and orchestras whilst at school and has travelled to Ireland, Austria and Belgium with her fiddle. She has done some teaching with the Edinburgh Youth Music Initiative but presently enjoys attending workshops and festivals and playing for ceilidhs. 
Bio:
Bio: Ruth is an experienced fiddle player and has played for
numerous orchestras, shows and concerts. Ruth teaches Traditional
Fiddle and recorder through the Edinburgh Youth Music Initiative - a
job which she clearly loves since it involves getting up just as early
on a Saturday morning as weekday mornings when Ruth works as a Civil
and Environmental Engineer. Ruth would one day like to own a
Polish/Scots restaurant in either Poland or Scotland, and traditional
music would definitely be a prominent feature. 
Bio: Jono started playing bass guitar because he wanted to be in a rock band with some friends. A short while later "Sheepdip" were formed; Jono has come a long way since then! As well as having been a member of Hawick High School ceilidh band throughout High School (even getting the chance to support Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham) Jono has also sung with Edinburgh Youth Choir, played recorder since primary school and performed in a number of musicals - the highlight being the chance to play Seymour in Little shop of Horrors. Jono sets his next target as learning to play the Djembe.
Bio: Paul's true origins are unknown... however several rumors persist.
Most of these are wrong. In his spare time Paul likes to procrastinate and sleep.
This is not a common occurrence though as Paul is a full time student/philanthropist.
Paul's musical talents include being a talented saxophonist, pianist, recorder
player and occasional singer.
